Traditional Line-cutters can become a headache, from complicated installations(some that can even damage your prop), to ongoing maintenance – repairs, sharpening, needing proprietary anodes. So when the team at Sea Shield Marine designed the SALCA, everything was designed with these 3 goals in mind.
1) Easy Installation
No need to increase the gap between the strut and the hub, which increases the risk of damaging the shaft. The SALCAs design and dimensions allow it to easily install where most Limited Clearance Collars usually go. The SALCA comes in 2 pieces and installs easily using 2 screws(allen key or deep-slotted fillister) – if you can install an anode, you can install a SALCA.
2) No Hassle Maintenance
No need for ongoing maintenance headaches commonly associated with most traditional line-cutters. Just treat the SALCA like any other anode on your vessel – keep it clean, check it regularly, and let the SALCA do it’s job by providing dual protection. Once the anode portion has worn-down, just replace the old SALCA with a new one. boom.
3) Optimal Performance
The SALCAs anode portion is pressure die cast using the highest grade metals and is alloyed to MIL-SPEC Standards (Zinc: MIL-A-18001 , Aluminum: MIL-A-24779). The Cutting-Blade is made of an extremely durable corrosion resistant stainless-steel, that provides heavy-duty cutting power. Also, our precision engineering gives the SALCA a tighter tolerance to prevent spinning and assures your shaft gland still receives enough water flow for cooling and lubricating purposes.
